Renovated Porsche Taycan which, after the facelift, was to become the flagship model of the German manufacturer. However, it turns out to be an increasing problem. The electric versions were supposed to make the German manufacturer one of the most popular in the luxury electric car segment.

However, the company announced a  global recall of all vehicles sold due to potential defects in the front brake lines.

Porsche Taycan – problems with brake cables

The basic fault is the possibility of cracking or tearing of the brake lines on the front axle. This may lead to brake fluid leakage and reduced braking power. Porsche Taycan has developed a new design of cables, changing their length, mounting points and kinematics.

Replacing damaged elements is, of course, free of charge for customers and takes several hours.  Although less than 1% of cars are affected, the company has recalled more than 150,000 vehicles worldwide. Drivers’ safety was at risk.

Battery problems in Porsche Taycan

In May 2024, Porsche recalled a small number of Taycan cars due to a risk of fire resulting from a short circuit in the battery. Although the problem affected only a small number of vehicles, it posed a serious safety risk. Unfortunately, the German brand’s flagship electric model is constantly struggling with new problems, and at the highest level. These are defects that pose a threat to health and life. In a car worth a million, such problems are a serious blemish on the image.

Impact on the company

The mass recall of Taycans involves high logistical costs and the need to manage communications with customers and dealers. Kevin Giek, Taycan project manager, emphasized that although the problem affects a small percentage of cars, the company decided to recall all models to ensure safety.

For Porsche, known for reliability and luxury, such technical problems are a serious image challenge. Any defect can undermine customer confidence and affect future sales. Especially in the case of a modern and advanced electrician. The luxury car market expects to keep up with technological innovations and be reliable.

Porsche’s reaction

Porsche actively informs Taycan owners about the need to replace brake lines and the possibility of battery problems. It is recommended to stop driving immediately and contact the service center in the event of a red warning light on the dashboard.
