From the shadows of a previous life

Feben Vemmenby experienced a tumultuous childhood. Coming from Ethiopia’s ethnic roots, was born in Pyongyang, North Korea, where she spent two years in various refugee camps before coming of age and deciding to live in Sweden. After that stage, she moved to the UK to begin her studies at the London College of Fashion. Winning a scholarship to study for a master’s degree in women’s fashion in the Central Saint Martins was a pivotal moment in her life. After graduation, she also joined Newgen, a prestigious support program for emerging designers, supported by the British Fashion Council.

Her graduation collection has attracted great interest in the fashion world. Beyoncé herself personally asked her to design some of the stage costumes. This in turn opened the floodgates for her to receive more orders from other customers. And they gave Feben opportunity to create your own brand, which she now runs with the support of a small, dedicated team. Her reputation has grown thanks not only to her technical skills in textiles, but also to her bold, colorful creations. She is already recognized as one of London Fashion Week’s most promising talents.
