Provence-style office – my personal inspiration

Today, a few words about interior design, or more precisely, about the spaces where we work. Everyone is designing in a modern and innovative way, forgetting about the charming tradition of furniture craftsmanship. is quite an achievement by the Interiors Italia brand. But let’s start from the beginning…
Long, long ago, people lived very simply, austerely, and traditionally. There were no interior finishing materials like we have today. And craftsmanship was remarkably genuine and fascinating in its simplicity.
They used ascetic, yet incredibly striking materials—something you can’t say about today’s mass production. Untouched by design templates, the manufactories relied on the skill and strength of true craftsmen.
They were ultimately responsible for the entire concept and bringing the product to its final stage, not the machinery. And that’s why Luxury Products loves today’s family-run ateliers that haven’t succumbed to the lure of mass production.
Provence-style office – who creates them?
I’ve seen Provençal furniture made in factories, mass-produced from ready-made components. And honestly, it doesn’t quite fit my idea of premium products. Sure, it looks decent and the prices are reasonable, but a Provençal-style study without that unique flair, simplicity, and somewhat raw materials is like a scout without a pocketknife…
Imagine a small town in Italy, Citta di Castello. Nestled in Renaissance Umbria, it plays an important role in the history of this remarkable country. It is the birthplace of Pope Celestine II and Monica Bellucci.
It is here, in an old, traditional, and Renaissance-inspired setting, that the Interiors Italia brand creates beautiful furniture from scratch. A Provençal-style study is just one of their wide range of products.
Since 1964, this Italian manufacturer has faithfully adhered to age-old artisanal recipes to recreate Provençal furniture. What more could you want when aiming to achieve a look reminiscent of bygone eras?
Provence-style office – what finishes does the manufacturer offer?
In addition to traditional furniture waxing techniques, Interiors Italia also offers several finishing standards.
Antiqua – finish in the shade of, aged or not, in cherry, walnut, or chestnut colors.
Arles – monochrome lacquered finish with cherry-based oak
Provence – pigmented paint applied with a brush, gypsum-based, aged effect
Decorata – brush-colored on a gypsum base with hand-made decorations, aged finish
Old simplicity technique – brush-colored on a gypsum base, aged in various shades
So, as you can see for yourselves, it’s not brute strength but technique that makes you a true professional. This meticulous hand-finishing is where all the magic and painstaking effort come together, resulting in what you see in the photos.
Factory-made products, unfortunately, cannot undergo such processing, which is why manufactories differ so much from assembly lines and so-called “ready-mades”…
Not to mention, creating a Provençal-style cabinet like this takes much more time than mass production. So anyone who wants to bring a touch of Provence into their home will need to be patient.
The manufacturer is also exceptionally conscious, which is why wood is used as the main material. This is mostly old fir wood. Since older trees absorb less carbon dioxide, they are replaced by younger forests.
Production on demand is available. The offer is fully customizable in terms of colors, dimensions, materials, and patinas.
Provence-style office – which furniture to choose?
Manufaktura Interiors Italia offers a wide selection of furniture. Luxurious Provençal wardrobes, elegant sideboards, rustic cabinets, stained glass, magnificent beds for bedrooms, and tables for exceptional dining rooms.
But today we’re mainly interested in a Provençal-style study, so that’s what I’ll tell you about. The focal point of any study is the desk with an armchair. The brand offers two options here.
Stylish desk model PR620 with 6 drawers from the Maison De Provence collection (length 150 cm). Also, a second desk from the Atelier Des Meubles collection – model PR621 with 3 drawers (width 160 cm).
They are indeed quite different, yet both define and
Chairs or armchairs are traditional, with four legs, clearly designed to match the desks.
And is there room for a Provençal library?Okay, our Provençal-style office already has desks, now it’s time for a bookcase. I have to say, the manufacturer really outdid themselves here—see for yourself. The first bookcase, model PR318, is an incredible 2.5-meter Provençal masterpiece.
Six large lockable cabinets, four drawers, and plenty of shelves make this a great investment for our trinkets and books! Width: 260 cm, depth: 45 cm. For me, it’s the brightest and most Provençal piece of furniture in this office!
The next bookcase is the same height at 250 cm, but it’s slightly smaller—213 cm long and 43 cm deep. It comes with a ladder, allowing you to easily reach books on the upper shelves without much effort.
This Provençal bookcase features four lockable cabinets and plenty of open shelves – model PR314. Personally, I preferred the previous one:)
If you have less space, I suggest a freestanding bookcase measuring 225 cm high, 120 cm wide, and 45 cm deep. It’s a great choice for smaller rooms. The PR301 model features 2 lockable cabinets and 4 open shelves for your books!
The second of the freestanding bookcases is a bit unusual
And that’s my selection. Of course, the manufactory offers many other pieces you could use to furnish your office—like sideboards, stained glass, mirrors, and —but why bother? My idea was to keep it Provençal, simple, and spacious.
That’s why I don’t overcrowd your space in my concept—Provence style needs room to breathe, and that’s what we should stick to.

Provence-style office – accessories and trinkets
The magic of a Provençal interior lies in the details and finishing touches. Weathered wooden floors, heavy stone tiles, or raw old planks—these should be the foundation upon which the entire design is built.
If you want to recreate a piece of Provence using panels, forget about it. At the special request of our clients, we search for antique tiles from past centuries to faithfully capture that unique atmosphere.
And believe me, everything can be arranged. Our partners in France can source any piece of equipment, even the oldest and rarest items.
No books for your library? No problem. We offer several world-renowned brands that create leather book imitations. Prefer the real thing? We’ll craft authentic vintage books just for you. No problemo!
Many of our clients order leather binders styled like an old book because they are convenient and incredibly functional.
Knick-knacks also cannot be mass-produced; they must be crafted in a traditional, artisanal way from materials such as tin, wood, or iron. And here as well, we can easily furnish your Provençal-style office with such treasures.
I won’t go into detail about them today, as that’s a separate topic for the next article on office equipment.
A Provençal-style office – what do you need to know?
You just need to know what you want and desire. When faced with a choice between a template and a genuine premium product, be aware. I hope I’ve helped you, at least a little, to understand what you should pay attention to.
This is important because today many manufacturers pretend and associate themselves with super premium goods. But in the end, it turns out to be cheap junk and a poor imitation of what you really wanted. Provençal furniture requires warmth and passion, which is why not everyone can create it.
The principles governing processing and waxing have remained unchanged for years, and Interiors Italia strives to uphold them – and that is the essence of a high-quality product.
