Pen of the Year 2016 by Graf von Faber-Castell

Yesterday we received fresh and fragrant catalogs – ” Pen of the Year 2016 by Graf von Faber-Castell ”. If you want to find out which product is made from smoked maple, gold, and onyx – this article is for you!
It all began with an exciting inspiration…..
The Pen of the Year 2016 is inspired by the story of Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. She was the one who brought tiles from the Orient to her Schönbrunn Palace. The luxurious panels were crafted at the imperial manufactory in Beijing.

Black lacquer tiles were set into maple wood paneling and adorned with gilded frames. This is where the unique finish of this extraordinary pen comes from!
Who created the Pen of the Year 2016? – a few words about the artists and their project
When designing the Pen of the Year 2016 collection, Graf von Faber-Castell invited Vieux-Laque restorer Silvi Miklin and Japanese artist Tomizo Saratani, who specializes in the Maki-e technique.

What they created together exceeded their wildest expectations. They divided the special motif project into three parts, each of which was coated with black lacquer before being subjected to the lacquering and firing process.
This intricate process concluded with the motif being coated in gold and lacquer.
The Pen of the Year 2016 is truly captivating thanks to the materials used in its creation. The barrel is adorned with panels made from black onyx and smoked maple. All of this is set within platinum-plated frames. The cap is topped with a hand-polished black onyx cut in a diamond shape.

For me personally, these are the greatest qualities of this exclusive pen!
Each of these exceptional writing instruments is packaged in a lacquered wooden case. The pen also features an individual number.
To dispel any doubts about the materials used, you’ll find a certificate signed by the master gemologist from the Herbert Stephan manufactory in Idar Oberstein, confirming the authenticity of the onyx. The artist Tomizo Saratani personally supervised the 24-karat gold paintings.

Collection limit
As usual, these pens are released as limited editions. The most precious gold-plated versions include 120 fountain pens and 50 rollerball pens. The platinum version consists of 500 fountain pens and 150 rollerball pens!
The platinum version of the rollerball pen at www.luxuryproducts.pl is priced at 13,760 PLN, while the fountain pen costs about 2,000 PLN more.

The gilded edition will cost 30,960 PLN and 32,250 PLN, respectively.
Perhaps for many, these amounts will prove to be a significant barrier. However, I personally recommend investing and diversifying your funds in such an exclusive and limited product. A large part of the collection is aimed at private clients. The second segment targets companies and their valued business partners.
This is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind pen, so I am sure it will attract many enthusiasts in Poland, which I highly encourage.
